Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes
The win increases the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's first possession
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Justin Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
